Logistics Logic [2x Application Hosting : Introduction]

What is 2x Application Server?
2x is a product which, like Citrix, allows you to publish applications and virtual desktops to remote users, with the following features:
- Application & Printer Publishing: Publish Applications (restrict user accessibility to single or multiple applications). Network printing setup is easy, using your existing fixed-ip printers/print-servers, or pc-attached printers.
- Administration: Retain ability to administer a user's session via Terminal Services Manager - "Remote Control"
- Local-Drive Access: automatically map virtual drives to a user's computer (e.g. \\TSClient\c\MyFolder).
Local-Drive access can be enabled/disabled using the existing user-profiles in your Windows server setup (e.g. domains/AD).
- Printing: automatically map virtual printers to a user's computer (drivers must be installed on the server; 2x Universal Print option offers solutions for any-printer-any-computer printing).
Printer access uses existing Windows-user permissions, ensuring easy printer creation/deletion/accessibility, based you your users' current domain/AD privileges.
How does 2x work?
Setup and configuration of your 2x server and applications is simple. Just install the server application, choose what apps to share, and to whom, and you're done.
- Install 2x Application Server onto your Windows Server which hosts the applications you wish to publish
- Configure 2x port-connections, and Windows user-account settings
- Choose applications you wish to publish, and who should be allowed for each application
- Install the 2x Client onto your users' computers, then create necessary desktop shortcuts, etc. with just a few clicks!
2x can be setup and configured for end-user access in 15-30 minutes!
What are the costs (Citrix vs. 2x)?
Both 2x Server and Citrix, require Terminal services licenses for each user (based on your concurrent-connection, or individual-users), plus licensing for any application(s) published. For example, if you want to publish MS Office for 10 users, you would adhere to the 10-user licensing requirements from Microsoft, plus purchase 10 Terminal Server CALs, regardless of whether you use Citrix or 2x.
Usage Scenario Citrix vs. 2x Comparison:
15 Users on a local server with some users connecting from anywhere:
Using Citrix, you might spend $3,000 +/- for pubishing applications & printers, whereas, you would only spend $695 to publish those same applications using the 2x Application Server product.
